Wood floors capture the tranquility of Nature and bring that feeling into your interior spaces. Once the industry standard, wood floors are now enjoying a rebirth fueled by creativity and modern technology. Pre-finished wood surfaces are much tougher than the finishes we once applied on site. These new surfaces are baked on in controlled environments, providing smoother more durable finishes. This same process eliminates the dusty mess left behind during traditional installations. Like all floor coverings, wood can be creatively used to define the different uses of your private interior spaces.

Wood floors are a creation of nature, and homeowners need to be aware of their inherent properties. Humidity in the air that surrounds the installation affects the fiber of the wood. Wood floors will constantly adjust to this influence. The concern here is the expansion and contraction of the individual planks as the humidity inside is left unattended. The result of the expansion caused by high humidity is "Cupping" sometimes referred to as a washboard appearance. This condition is not a manufacturing or installation defect and not covered by any warranty in our industry. Maintaining a constant level of humidity in the space below the installation as well as the environment surrounding the installation is the only solution to this natural condition.
To address this issue our Industry has improved and expanded the selection of "Engineered" wood products. The top ¼ inch of either a ¾ inch thick product or any engineered product is all you use for walking as well as visual aesthetics. The balance of either product is the foundation for that surface. Engineered wood floors provide a much more dimensionally stable foundation and inherently control the expansion and contraction issue caused by varying humidity surrounding the installation. Before deciding on any Wood Flooring product, this issue must be discussed with our staff. Your location as well as your lifestyle will drive the final decision regarding the best product for your application.

Maintenance of Wood Floors is easy. Just think of your floor as a piece of furniture. Sweep regularly to keep abrasive particles off and dust your floor with a swiffer mop while lightly spritzing our "Bona" wood floor cleaner. Mopping with water will permanently damage your Wood Floor by causing it to "Cup".
