Skipper, Owner

I am proud to be a third generation native of Traverse City. Even though I lived around our great country for 10 years after graduating from College, I have always called TC my home. During that time wherever I went, Traverse City beckoned me to return. It was in 1986 when I finally decided to quit my Job in the big city, return home and create Carpet Galleria.

Working along my side since 1990 is my wife Julie. To some it may seem a daunting task to work closely with your spouse, but it has turned out to make my job even more rewarding. Our two Westie’s – Maxwell and Stanley – also enjoy coming to work with us.

I am very lucky that the entire “Pack” enjoys sharing my passion for sailing. The summer sailing season may be short in Northern Lake Michigan, but it is full of adventure. We pretty much move on to the boat for summer, you can find us out sailing almost every evening after work.

After spending over 35 years in the flooring industry, I gladly admit I am one of those who would never leave—just like so many people I have met during my career. The challenges are interesting, each and every customer has their own vision of what they desire. Fulfilling those desires has been a fabulous way for me to make a living.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Area Rug Manager

I started working for Dave in 1990. He had just moved Carpet Galleria from downtown to Garfield. We were married in 1995, and continue to successfully live and work together. I am primarily involved with area rugs – the artwork for the floor! We attend international markets to select the best rugs for todays home decor. Our collections are merchandised beautifully in our new showroom. Come in to see our extensive selection.

When not in the store Dave, myself, and our two Westies, Maxwell and Stanley enjoy sailing and “walkie dog” time.

I look forward to helping you select the perfect rug for your home – see you soon!

Showroom Manager

I have been with Carpet Galleria for ten years now, and we have grown together like family. My life (and hair) is ever changing; with a young child, home remodeling, and future goals, I have always had the support of my Carpet Galleria family. It is that loving relationship that makes me really proud to be a part of this team.

I grew up in Saginaw and earned a degree in Interior Design. After moving to the Grand Rapids/Holland area I became involved in floor covering. I have enjoyed the challenge of working with many different clients and their homes, helping people solve design problems.

I have adopted the tile/stone area as my on-going, evolving specialty. There are so many things that these materials have to offer. I try to keep the showroom stocked with good basics to get started, and lots of beautiful accents to help inspire and take the design to the next level. I look forward to meeting you and helping make confident design and flooring decisions for your home.

I grew up down-state in Three Rivers, Michigan. After attending Columbus College of Art and Design for two years I transferred to Kendall College of Art and Design, where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design. After college I jumped on a plane and started the next phase of my life in Sandpoint, Idaho. I began my interior design career at Amberleaf Designs. I worked there for four years until I had my first child, Rylee. I took a little time off before I started working in the world of flooring for Sandpoint Furniture Carpet One. I adored my job and my family, but I also started missing my Michigan family as well. Two years ago I moved my husband Nathan and daughters Rylee and Carolina, back to Michigan. We have enjoyed the area and what it has to offer our family.

I am grateful that I was able to find my way to Carpet Galleria, a very welcoming group. I enjoy helping our clients create the atmosphere they are looking for.

Although I was born down south in Fort Smith, Arkansas, home has always been in Northern Michigan for me. After graduating from Benzie Central High School I began pursuing my passion for design at Baker College of Cadillac. I earned my degree in Architectural Technology, focusing on sustainability and green building. Shortly after graduation, I was welcomed into the Carpet Galleria family, where I’ve had the chance to gain the kind of industry experience that just can’t come from a classroom. I love the opportunities I have to apply the unique skills of architectural design in floor covering design.

I currently live in Copemish, MI with my husband, Zachary, and our cats. We love to travel and experience this gorgeous state. I also have a deep passion for music and classical performance, so when I’m not at work you’ll find me getting to every festival or concert I can, or playing instruments of my own.

I’m so glad to have the opportunity to arm clients with the tools they need to make their visions come to life, along with the inspiration I gain from the beautiful homes I get to work in.

Accountant

Although I grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, I have lived most of my life in Traverse City and consider myself a native not a fudgy!

I have worked nearly my whole career in accounting, mostly in the Oil & Gas industry. Coming to Carpet Galleria was a new adventure, filled with learning about retail accounting as well as the flooring industry overall.

In my personal time, I enjoy gardening, cooking and walks and play time with my Labrador Retriever Tessi.

I love working in a small company where you feel a real team atmosphere and work with everyone very closely. I am so happy to be a part of the Carpet Galleria team!

In 1960 I was introduced to the flooring industry. Since then I’ve been associated in every phase from manufacturing to retail. After opening my own store I moved to Traverse City and worked for Carpet Galleria for several years. I retired ten years ago to care for my late wife who was suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. After her passing Carpet Galleria opened a part time position which I happily filled. We have a wonderful team of supportive and knowledgable people who care for their customers and treat each other like family.

Project Manager

I have been with Carpet Galleria as Project Manager since June, 2017. My experience with Carpet Galleria actually began some years ago when I was working in the warehouse while going to school at Northwestern Michigan College. Even then, I enjoyed the environment and the people associated with Carpet Galleria.

I grew up in Traverse City, graduating from Michigan State University with a bachelors degree in Food Industry Management. What do preparing food and bringing flooring installations together have in common? Both require an understanding of supply chain management. As Carpet Galleria’s project manager I am always coordinating and communicating with our suppliers, our installation professionals, and our clients to create the installations that our clients expect. I truly enjoy participating in the process of improving and beautifying home and work environments.

I am thrilled to be back in Traverse City, living and working in the place I have been lucky enough to call home. I truly look forward to making my career at Carpet Galleria, and I am honored to be a member of a team that includes so many talented and dedicated professionals.
